Important Changes at Coffee Capsules 2U

Good mornings need good coffee.  We believe that knowing that the story behind your coffee is important too. That’s why we deliver our simple promise of “good taste, good price and good to recycle”.

Doing good is what has driven some of our recent changes.  We’d like to tell you about them.

We’ve upgraded our Capsule

We are the first to release our new capsule technology in New Zealand.  It’s a big step up and you can now enjoy the best compatible capsule on the market.  The new features are:

• Air-tight for freshness (no need for foil overwraps anymore!)
• Improved pour technology
• Colour coded for easy blend recognition
• Available in handy 10 capsule boxes

Our coffee hasn’t changed and our price per capsule is still the same.

Our new capsules are packed in boxes of 10. We put six together in boxes of 60 capsules. That means we’ve changed our free shipping offer to 120 capsules.

The best way we can describe our new capsule is to compare it to a smart phone.  We’ve all had a trusty old phone that did everything that we wanted and we were very happy with it. However, when we upgraded we just couldn’t believe how good the new one was. You’ll have the same feeling with the new capsule.

We’ve changed the way we recycle

Our “Return and Recycle” option is now so popular that we are receiving hundreds of your used capsules every day. Recycling plastic into plastic pellets which are reformed into a new plastic product is good BUT it uses a lot of energy and there is no guarantee that the new plastic product will be kept out of landfill when its use is over.

The solution is to create a process that “locks up” the value of plastics as a useful long-life material. So, we have designed and developed a process here in Warkworth to convert your used capsules into lightweight concrete building bricks.  The bricks that we are making will initially be used to build outdoor structures such as raised garden beds in our garden.

As soon as we, New Zealanders, see used plastic as a valuable material then the waste problem will be solved. Re-using plastic waste to create useful materials is at the cutting edge of innovation in waste management.  In fact, there are examples of where New Zealand is leading the way.  This is such an opportunity that we’ve separated our recycling efforts from the coffee business so that we can keep developing the range of recycled products that we are making.
