  Interesting Facts

  Extra dark roasted coffee beans are almost black in colour. During the roasting process the natural coffee oils are drawn to the surface and caramelise. The "extra" part of the dark roast transforms the caramel into a dark toffee resulting in beans that leave the roasting machine that are very hard with a glossy finish. This process is why dark roasting produces what is commonly known as “strong coffee”.
